The Bloor Annex Business Improvement Area (BIA) is pleased to introduce “Magic Windows,” a free public art project spotlighting the musical talents of aniqa dear: Aniqa Qadir (vocals and keyboard), Kieran Maraj (bass) and Raphael Roter (drums). Using innovative projection mapping technology, their performances were recorded live at the infamous Tranzac Club and now come to life in the windows of one vacant Toronto storefront. “Magic Windows” creates an immersive experience with synchronized music and captivating light displays and was inspired by the Annex’s very own Women From Space Festival. This initiative celebrates visionary women in exploratory and experimental music, transforming our main street into a vibrant cultural destination.

About the Artist: aniqa dear is an experimental electronic art pop project stemming from the Pakistani/Indian and Arabic influences of songwriter, artist, performer, and music educator Aniqa Qadir. It is rooted in queerness, migration, otherness, rebirth, and the eternally intertwining dance between belonging and isolation. aniqa dear weaves her intricate melodic sensibilities with ever-shifting, dizzying, synth-infused textures and polyrhythms, resulting in danceable music that cuts into the most vulnerable parts of you. Her music is striking in its clarity, even as it draws you down into your own abyss. For more from aniqa deer you can follow her @AniqaDearMusic. You can also find aniqa dear on Spotify:
