Public Art & Spaces

The Bloor Annex BIA is dedicated to fostering a welcoming atmosphere with accessible public spaces for all. One of our core missions is to beautify the neighbourhood with enhanced parkettes, dynamic murals, and curated activations.

Award Winning Parkettes

Designed by dtah, the Bloor Annex BIA parkettes are located at 320 Robert St., 290 Major St., 306 Brunswick Ave., and 2 Howland Ave. The BIA is proud to have partnered with DTAH to create these public spaces that have become places of celebration, home to art activations, a habitat for pollinators, and just general peaceful oases for our community to enjoy. We’re extremely proud to share that our parkettes have won several prestigious awards including the 2023 Toronto Urban Design Award of Excellence for Small Open Spaces and a National Award of Excellence from the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects.

Gathering spaces

The Bloor Annex BIA has also built two outdoor eating areas for all to enjoy – one in front of Trinity St. Paul’s United Church at 427 Bloor St. W. and one on Brunswick Ave. on the north east corner.

The BIA also recognized that the corner of Bloor and Brunswick has long been a home for buskers and performers. To encourage a vibrant street, we have built an accessible stage to support these artists.

Public Art

The BIA is proud to partner with a diverse range of artists and organizations to create public art within our community. Please click on the images below to learn more about each of our murals – don’t miss the interactive audio tours at Paul Martel Park and the Brunswick House!
