Annex Festival on Bloor Kicks Off Summer on June 9
The Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre (MNjcc) and the Bloor Annex BIA present the 17th Annual Annex Festival on Bloor on Sunday, June 9 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., sponsored by TD Bank Group and NOW Magazine. Extending from Spadina to Bathurst, this annual downtown extravaganza attracts close to 20,000 visitors each year.
Annex Festival on Bloor is a summer street festival celebrating the Annex’s diverse businesses, eclectic cuisine and exceptional talent. This year’s event features a packed lineup of family-friendly programming for every age and taste, with over 80 artisans, neighbourhood businesses, specialty food vendors, musicians, theatre performers, buskers and more.
The Festival Mainstage at Bloor and Brunswick will feature a roster of local musical acts, curated by The Tranzac Club and broadcast live on CIUT FM 89.5 all afternoon. Visitors can enjoy performances by Dave Clark and the WoodChoppers Orchestra; Michelle Rumball (singer/songwriter); The Lemon Bucket Orchestra; Jaron Freeman-Fox and the Opposite of Everything; Spadina Station and Ronley Teper's Lipliners - A great, fun act that the kids and parents alike will love. Visitors will also be treated to Battle of the Bands at 1pm, as well as a parade of entertainers at 3pm.
A selection of top Toronto FRINGE performers will also be on the scene, entertaining the crowds with a sneak peak at some of the 2013 FRINGE Festival’s most anticipated shows. Plus visitors will be treated to street performances from the popular Ecuadorian ensemble The Imbayakunas, the amazing Brant: the Fire Guy and a mesmerizing collection of Toronto buskers.
Families are also invited to stop by the Children’s Village, where kids can get their faces painted, pick up a balloon sculpture from a clown, do the sport challenge, or jump it up in the inflatable castle, Festival-goers are also invited to join in the MNjcc energetic fitness demos for a firsthand sampling of the fantastic athletic and fitness programs the MNjcc has to offer.
